Unlined checks all incoming calls for the caller’s phone number as well as your calendar. Thus, the following rules apply:

  • A blocked contact can’t reach you and only hears “this number is not in service”.

  • An unknown caller (a phone number that is NOT saved as contact on your iPhone address book) directly goes to your voicemail. You can’t pick up the call and only get a push notification after a voicemail was received. The transcript is available in the app.

  • A call from a saved contact can call you but you only receive a push notification and no ring. The caller can state the reason of calling and you see a real-time transcript to decide if you want to pick up or not. If you do not answer, the caller can leave a voicemail.

  • A call from a trusted contact (you decide who is a contact vs trusted contact) lets your phone ring if you are not busy according to your calendar.

  • A call from a trusted contact can call you but you only receive a push notification if you are busy according to your calendar. The caller can state the reason of calling and you see a real-time transcript to decide if you want to pick up or not. If you do not answer, the caller can leave a voicemail.
